~ NEW RESIDENCES ~
WEST CENTER ROAD RESIDENCE, WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA
Designed as a full time residence for a retired bachelor whose interests lean to towards traveling, cooking, and automobiles, this house represents the culmination of years spent planning his dream house in a very specific and detailed approach.
DOCTOR'S RESIDENCE, WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA
A new weekend residence for a doctor and his wife and children.
The client originally requested a center hall colonial, and the design process evolved from that idea. The "traditional" plan that was developed created individual rooms for all the "public functions."
WESTHAMPTON SPEC HOUSE, NY
A new, "affordable" beach house, passive solar design. Designed as a speculative project, to be sold.
Situated in the bay front area of Westhampton, this four bedroom house was built for under $100,000 as a speculative venture for a client. The design features an open Living-Dining-Kitchen Area that is located on the second floor to provide better access to views.
LITTLE BIG HOUSE
An affordable, passive solar, starter house for a young couple. The original design was built in 1981 in Monterey, Mass. for $35,000. Many others have since been built all over the country and abroad.
ADIRONDACK STYLE, WEST STOCKBRIDGE MA
Designed to replicate an Adirondack style cottage, this three bedroom house has an open plan Living-Dining-Kitchen area on the first floor. A second open "Living Area" is ensconced by the children’s bedrooms. The Master and Guest Bedrooms are upstairs on the East side of the house to take advantage of the morning sun.
~ ADDITIONS, ALTERATIONS & RENOVATIONS ~
SCULPTOR'S RESIDENCE, SOUTH EGREMONT MA
Our client purchased a "contemporary" residence built in the late sixties. Situated on the northern slope of a prominent ridge, it commands a 25 mile view on a clear day. It was to be a weekend residence that would eventually become full time for a businessman, amateur sculptor from New York City.
WEST AVENUE ADDITION, GREAT BARRINGTON, MA
The addition to a turn of the century residence on West Street in Great Barrington involved solving two problems at once. Providing a shelter for the family vehicles, which required a two car Garage, and the need for a Playroom (above) for two young children dictated the form of a major addition.
HILLSIDE RESIDENCE, WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA
Alterations and additions were designed for an existing ranch style modular house on a mountainside with a Western view of the valley that connects West Stockbridge to Richmond in the Berkshires.
EASTON RESIDENCE, MD
An alteration to a residence built in 1880, the house was originally a tenant farmer's quarters for a nearby resort hotel on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Over the years, several additions and alterations were added which destroyed the integrity of the original central four fireplace, four room plan. The client's program requirements consisted of several changes which would enlarge the existing Kitchen, add an adjoining "Florida" Sun Room, reorient the focus of the new, enlarged Living Room with a new "Rumford" fireplace and add a new Entry Vestibule to provide an airlock entry space for the house.
FARMHOUSE ADDITION, STOCKBRIDGE, MA
This house in Stockbridge, Massachusetts was a residence for many decades for generations of farmers. After traveling the world for his work, the son of the last farmer decided to return, his intent to bring his family back to the house, and town he spent his youth growing up in. The original farmhouse was considered to be inadequate to house his family, so some additions and alterations were considered.
BROADWAY LOFT, SOHO, NYC
The design for this space was unusual in that the building was "long" enough to contain two residential spaces, therefore, the two Kitchens. One of the units was to become a rental.
UPPER WEST SIDE TOWNHOUSE, MANHATTAN NYC
Located on the upper West Side of the Manhattan, the building was a twenty foot wide structure owned by a prominent photographer and his wife. The design involved the partial removal of a second floor Bedroom to create a two story space and an open sleeping area overlooking the Living Area.
